Description
One large Excavation site with ruins and excavating equipment. Supposedly, it was part of an unfinished quest originated in Erothin, given by Gervasius. But is not necessary to come up here for other reasons than to get more XP. Unless, of course, you would like that last piece of the hard to complete Blood Mage's Embrace armor set, or the Northern King's Cuirass. You will find them both lying just northeast of the central flat cover stone, upon which is lying a Magic symbol.
What's more is that you can access parts of the great mountain from here. You can either ascend up the mountain to reach places such as Anku, Creator's Temple (locked before the quest) or the Dwarven Dock before you are required to be there during the Main Quest. Hiking up to the Dwarven Dock is about a 30 minute journey in real time and requires decent athletics and speed to do this, meaning you do not want to scale the mountain with heavy armor on. Hiking down the the great mountain provides a shortcut to Treomar, which can be useful during The Ruins of Treomar.
Location
In The Great Nord Cleft, far north up the great mountains, if you keep going left on the main road you will end up here.
